WhatsApp launched emoji reactions with six options just a few months ago, but it was not liked very much due to the small number of emojis. Luckily, this issue is resolved; Meta (Facebook parent company) CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced you will be able to use any emoji for WhatsApp reactions. Here are the details…
You can use any emoji for WhatsApp reactions
In a Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg announced, “We’re rolling out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp.” Like previous emoji reactions, the feature is accessible by long pressing the message you want to react to. However, if you use any emoji other than the standard six, things change.
When you long press the message you want to react to, open the menu containing the previous six emoji reactions and a new plus icon. This plus icon opens a menu containing every available emoji, and here you can choose the emoji you want to use.
Telegram recently unveiled expanded emoji and animated reactions, but you must subscribe to its new $5/month premium service.
According to The Verge, the expanded emoji reaction feature was previously spotted in the beta versions of the service, including on iOS and Android. It combines WhatsApp with the functionality already available on Meta’s Messenger service.
While the expanded emoji reaction was announced, it doesn’t seem to be available for everyone just yet; the feature is rolling out now and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
